- From Sherif Manganas, Product Designer- "As many of you know I've been doing a deep dive into the world of drones and the exciting possibilities therein. In such a cutting edge development, dare I say commercial industry, a lot is left undefined and circumspect. We have the government, on the one hand, fast tracking the commercial use of drones, initially with the intention for allowing for environmental observation, however their actions having more serious consequences than initially expected. On the other hand we have the public, on one level hungry for technology and innovation, on another level terrified of democratized surveillance and the potential for stalking. The potential for harm and abuse is, in my opinion, outweighed by the potential for good and sweeping social change they offer. Discovering useful applications is where it we must begin if we are to change the views of public from one which associates drones with hunting and killing people, to tools of the modern age.

However, as I mentioned before proving their usefulness is the key factor. The immediate applications that have come to mind are numerous: Humanitarian, education, filming, news, extreme sports and the like, however I feel that I have much to learn about their individual needs. And to that end I appeal to you; I'm looking to meet some individuals whom I can interview to give me greater understanding of their individual needs and to discover how drones may or may not empower their lives.

I'm still looking to meet and interview a number of people regarding different approaches to my drone scenario. Eric Noble has been kind enough to connect to me with an engineer an associate of his however I still have an impressive number of people that I'm still trying to seek out and gain insight from. To that end I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions regarding speaking with people in the following positions:

NGO & Humanitarian activists
Search & Rescue personnel
Police, especially involved in a manhunt
Civil Protection in general
Organ transport personnel
Environmental Scientists
Wildlife Conservation
Shipping/Receiving
Augmented Reality Programmers
Architects
News Crew, particularly those who film on location
Professional Athletes or Extreme Sports Athletes
and Event Coordinators

As always your continual support and help is always appreciated thank you and I hope you have a wonderful week."

Warm Regards
Sherif
